• Our experience and discussions with the host family:

In the family there were Michael and June who are married. Another person was here, Aladdin, he's a libyan room-mate. We couldn't talk a lot with June because she was sick. But, we talked a lot with Aladdin and Michael. The first was sport. Aladdin is a fan of Manchester United because he study in Manchester. Michael is rather impartial, he likes sport but he is not agree with the hugesum of money in Football. Michael talked about the sport's installation in Colwyn Bay. He also talked about the city of Liverpool. He said that the docks was renovated and it was a good place to visit.

The next day, we talked about pubs. He said that the traditional pubs in United Kingdom suffer a slow decline and that there were less pubs because he thinks that young people prefer stay at home on computer rather than hang out with friends. He said that there was an other problem in England, the downtown are deserted by people and gang start to occupy the downtown. This problem is everywhere in UK.

Later, when we were just with Aladdin playing at videogames he talked about the libyan revolution. He said that problems continue in Libya. The militia employed by Kadhafi cause a lot of troubles like racket because militia need money to protect themselves. He talked about the troubles in the new political system. He said that nobody like the islamic brotherhood but they voted for them because they promise the return of the order if they were elected.

The last day we talked about the case of Francois Hollande with Julie Gayet. He said if this happen in England, english people will be shock and Michael was surprised that french people don't care about it. He said that effictively we don't care about it because there are other problems more important in France like unemployement. We were not really surprised because other presidents had an affair like Francois Mitterand who had an hide daughter. We talked about the french culture and that they are a lot of hollidays for french students. Aladdin said that he had 8 months of hollidays during the revolution in Libya.

  • After a series of new English lessons at CLT, we came to the city hall.

There, we met the Mayor and councillors of Colwyn Bay, who made for us a presentation of local politics and of the Councillors' Room.

Then, a debate started within the Councillors' Room; Matteo, Roxane and Lucie were the arbiters of the contest… The assembly's subject was: "Shall rugby matches be broadcast in Welsh language only?".
